Medical Identification Number for Canada (MINC)
As many physicians are aware, there has been an attempt to develop an identification number which will apply to all physicians and trainees in the Canadian medical system. It is expected that various national agencies will take advantage of such an identifier when dealing with their members. Currently considering such are the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the College of Family Physicians of Canada, as well as the Canadian Medical Protective Association. While many physicians in New Brunswick have already been assigned numbers, based on licensure or training in another province, others should consider taking advantage of this opportunity by signing the release form and forwarding such directly to the College office. Members may find additional information on the matter on the MINC website, which is www.minc-nimc.ca. They are also welcome to contact the College office for further information.
