Licensure in New Brunswick

Border Area License

Due to geography and historical ties, there are longstanding provisions for physicians practicing in border jurisdictions to obtain licensure for occasional practice in New Brunswick. This includes physicians in directly neighboring provinces as well as the State of Maine. The essential requirement for a Border Area License is a current license to practice medicine or osteopathy in that province or state, as well as residency there.

Applications may be requested from the College, by phone 506-849-5050,

fax 506-849-5069 or e-mail at registration@cpsnb.org

The initial application fee is $100. The annual licensing fee for the calendar year is $100. In addition, all physicians licensed with the College are required to obtain membership with the New Brunswick Medical Society.
